Online Tax Preparation and Filing

The program is made possible by a grant from The Walmart Foundation in cooperation with Goodwill Industries International, National Disability Institute and United Way Worldwide.

This option is available to all taxpayers; however, filing is free for those with a household income of $62,000 or less. For those whose income exceeds this amount, electronic filing of your state and federal tax returns is available for a cost less than other well-known tax preparation providers.

Please become a volunteer!

Watts K

The SpiriTrust Lutheran® Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program, which assists qualified taxpayers with free preparation of local, state and federal taxes, is seeking volunteers to serve as tax preparers, phone schedulers and site greeters at tax preparation sites throughout York County. No tax preparation experience is necessary and free training is provided.

While many of our volunteers serve because they are eager to give back to the community, they also learn valuable skills and gain meaningful job experience. By the end of the free training, our volunteer tax preparers are IRS-certified with extensive knowledge of special tax credits for which some clients may qualify such as Earned Income Tax Credit, Child Tax Credit and Health Insurance Premium Tax Credit. This expertise can be extremely useful when preparing personal tax returns or competing in the job market.

Because of the local support for this program we were able to serve nearly 2,400 York County taxpayers in 2016, resulting in almost $3.9 million being returned to the greater York community. We could not have done this without the support of our dedicated volunteers.

We need your help. Please consider donating your time to help low- and moderate-income taxpayers in your community. You will learn valuable skills, add expertise to your resume and help local people in need.

Thank you,

Kenny
