Basic Qualifications
 
Education/Training: A bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or public relations from an accredited college or university.
 
Skill(s): Speaks and understands English; proficient in advanced electronic layout, design and photo editing skills using PC-based desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative Suite; basic digital photography and video skills; advanced website creative and management tools, social media knowledge and skills;excellent writing, editing, proofreading and interviewing skills; highly organized, attentive to details and deadline oriented; able to work independently; excellent interpersonal skills; proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Power Point, and performing research on the Internet; proficient mathematics skills; and valid driver's license. 
 
Experience:  Minimum of five years of post-graduate experience in related positions. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite and Word Press preferred, plus social media management skills.

General Responsibilities
In partnership with the corporate director of Communications & Public Relations, assists in the development of a comprehensive communications vision and strategy for the agency, employing cutting edge technologies and best practices.  Manages specific communications functions under the direction of the director as outlined, with a particular emphasis on expanding the use of social media and other electronic formats; helps meet all other department and agency goals; responds to inquiries or requests for information from both internal and external clients; maintains open, timely and consistent communications with the director.
                                                                 

Essential Duties


Develops communication that supports the SpiriTrust Lutheran mission: SpiriTrust Lutheran, witnessing to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, provides exceptional health, human, and senior living services by supporting persons in achieving an optimal quality of life.
 
Develops communication that supports the SpiriTrust Lutheran vision: SpiriTrust Lutheran is recognized as a leader in service excellence as we compassionately care for the children of God.
 
Interacts with team members, volunteers, residents, clients, participants, vendors and the general public in ways that demonstrate the agency’s commitment to courtesy, service and hospitality befitting a faith-based organization.
 
Assists with the development and implementation of communications strategies, goals, objectives, plans and measurement tools in support of the Agency’s overall strategic initiatives. 
 
Provides guidance and counsel to SpiriTrust Lutheran programs, services and departments to identify effective communications strategies, tactics and tools and recommend the best course of action to meet client needs while maximizing available resources and staying within budget.
 
Serves as in-house graphic designer, photo and video editor, copywriter and liaison with printers; maintains brand standards; and helps ensure brand compliance throughout the agency. 
 
Manages the SpiriTrust Lutheran Facebook page and YouTube channel to create awareness and inform team members, volunteers, residents, clients, participants, donors and the general public by sharing information related to SpiriTrust Lutheran programs, services, events, team members, volunteers, residents, clients, participants and donors. Includes research; content development, scheduling and placement; and monitoring for effectiveness.
 
Provides support for the SpiriTrust Lutheran Recruitment LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter pages. 
 
Serves as the co-webmaster for the residents’ website which includes determining the appropriateness, timeliness and placement of content; resident and staff education; maintaining quality standards; general maintenance; and troubleshooting.
 
Serves as content manager for the corporate website for the following sections: Assistance & Education, Support & Counseling, News & Events, Volunteering, Executive Leadership and Volunteer Leadership; adds, deletes and edits content in other sections as requested; maintains quality standards; and provides general maintenance as needed. 
 
Produces eSpirit newsletter, an as-needed electronic news blast to team members, board members, select donors and other friends of SpiriTrust Lutheran.
 
Functions as agency photographer and videographer. 
 
Interviews residents, volunteers, clients, participants and other persons, researches and writes articles for agency magazine and other publications.
 
Assists corporate director of communications and public relations with crisis and issue communications, as needed. 
 
Represents and showcases SpiriTrust Lutheran at community events.
 
Proofreads printed material for consistency and accuracy. 
 
Maintains paper filing system for news clips, publications, brochures, photographs, reports and other printed materials along with electronic files for digital photographs, .PDF files, videos and other shared communications materials. 
 
Communicates as-needed with corporate director of communications and public relations as to work flow, project status and other communications initiatives. 
 
Serves on various committees and inter-disciplinary teams as directed by the corporate director of communications and public relations.
 
Interacts with all colleagues in ways that assist one another in the successful performance of their duties. 
 
Abides by the current laws and organizational standards and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of sexual harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the work place.
 
Cooperates with, participates in, and supports the adherence to all Agency standards, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and compliance with all regulatory requirements, i.e., HIPAA, OSHA, etc. 
 
Abides by and supports the organization’s code of conduct by exhibiting behavior that is set forth in the code of conduct.  Performs duties in accordance with the code of conduct and completes annual compliance training.
 
Reports pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compiles information as necessary or as directed and provides data to appropriate personnel.
