SpiriTrust Lutheran is hiring a FT Day Recreational Therapy Assistant

Basic Qualifications
Education/Training:  High school diploma or GED and training/education in therapeutic recreation or in the human services field is preferred.  Must attain and maintain CPR certification.
Skill(s):  Able to speak, read, write and understand English; proficient at written and oral communication; proficient at basic math skills; effective interpersonal and communication skills; proficient PC skills; valid driver’s license and dependable means of transportation.
Experience: Must have a minimum of two (2) years experienced working in the human services filed and skills to work with aging adults and adults with functional impairment.  One year’s experience working with a frail or elderly population required.  Experience in an acute care, long-term care, or a community-based setting is preferred.  Experience working with individuals with Alzheimer’s and/or dementia is preferred.
Eligibility for Employment:  Must meet eligibility requirements to work in a Medicare/Medicaid environment including criminal background and other eligibility clearances, clearance for communicable diseases and all required immunization must be current.
General Responsibilities
Assists the Recreational Therapy Supervisor and guides assigned nursing assistants in providing/planning of therapeutic and recreational activities for the participants of the program.  Maintains supplies and equipment and the recreational therapy area(s) in a clean and orderly manner.  Conducts and maintains participation records or programming.  Renders care within their credentialed scope of practice.
