Information & Updates

Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Working diligently to keep those we serve and those who serve healthy and virus-free!

Last Updated: June 2, 2020

The following actions have been implemented since this unprecedented healthcare crisis began:

General Operations

  • Establishment of a Command Center Team which teleconferences at the start of each day
  • Holding all necessary meetings via teleconferencing with the exception of caregiving meetings which are limited in the number of attendees and require social distancing
  • Implementation of temporary PTO policies
  • Screening of all team members at the start and end of their work shifts, includes temperature taking.

Life Plan Communities

  • Restricting visitation on all of our campuses for all levels of care along with residential cottages and apartments, including visitation through windows and doors. Families are asked to adhere to Governor Wolf’s stay at home mandate and not visit our campuses at the present time.
  • All resident mail is being held in a safe place for 24 hours before delivery to resident rooms to minimize any potential risk from the virus.
  • Requesting no flowers or unnecessary packages be delivered until the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Since we cannot guarantee the safety of these items, we reserve the right to not bring the items to your family member’s room until the restrictions are lifted.
  • No outside clergy will be permitted to visit during this time. Spiritual and religious needs provided by priests, ministers and rabbis will be coordinated through our chaplains.
  • The closing of common areas, including community centers and dining venues.
  • Serving meals to residents in personal care, assisted living and skilled care in their rooms.
  • Providing curbside and delivery meal service for cottage and apartment residents.
  • Our life enrichment team is available to arrange communication between residents and family members through electronic means.
  • Screening of all team members and contracted support service personnel at the start and end of their work shifts, includes temperature taking.
  • Screening of all vendors and other visitors who enter our campuses.
  • Remote work capabilities to limit on-campus personnel to those who are essential to the care of our residents.
  • Increased use of onsite PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • Per guidance from CMS, residents must wear a face covering for their safety and the safety of their caregivers whenever a caregiver is in their room. Each resident has received two masks for their personal use. Staff will ask residents to put on their mask every time they enter your family member’s room. These masks will be washed in our laundry department to insure proper safety precautions are taken.
  • Suspending all move-ins into our residential living cottages and apartments until further notice.
  • Suspending all outside admissions to our personal care and assisted living residences; internal admissions will continue as part of our commitment to providing continuing care.
  • Suspension of in-person volunteer assignments.

We Are Hiring!

At SpiriTrust Lutheran® the need for qualified candidates who are caring and compassionate never goes away, even in challenging times like the one presented by coronavirus! We realize that everyone in the communities we serve has been negatively impacted by COVID-19 in some way. We also realize that coronavirus may have financially impacted our family, friends and neighbors through the permanent or temporary loss of a job or reduced hours and income.

If you are no longer employed due to the coronavirus, please visit our Careers Page to learn more about open position in our life plan communities, home care and hospice agency and other program areas. And, please be assured that we are taking the same precautions to prevent the spread of the virus during our hiring process as we are for our current team members and everyone we serve.
