By being involved in a number of organizations that have helped to impact and make a difference in our community, Kris and Joe Crosswhite have embodied the true meaning of philanthropy – the love of humanity. Kris’s current participation on the board of directors at Penn Mar and Ladew Topiary Gardens complements Joe’s involvement on the WellSpan Health board and the Board of Advisers for York County Day School. His prior board service in the York community has included many civic organizations, ranging from the Boy Scouts and the Cultural Alliance to the United Way and York College.
Because of their extraordinary generosity and commitment to community, the two are making a difference in the York area through their involvement and motivation of others to join with them in pursuit of many important causes.
“We volunteer as a way to say ‘thank you’ for all of the people who have helped us along in our life’s journey. So many people – parents, teachers, neighbors, friends, co-workers – have been willing to share their time, offer us encouragement and hold us to a higher standard,” said the Crosswrites in a joint statement. “It is a universal experience for all of us and a gift that can only be repaid by giving back. How you ‘give back’ is up to you. But, the mere act of volunteerism, whether modest or bold, nourishes the soul.”
